Where you sleep can be
part of the story too.
A historic coastal village. A quiet countryside stay away from the usual hotel chains. Where you stay can be as memorable as what you do during the day.
Tell us what kind of place you are after and we will help you find it.
Not every night needs to be a chain hotel.
Think a 1665 barony with a 300-year-old rose garden, a fjord hotel where Grieg composed, or a timber lodge perched above Lysefjord. These are examples — historic villages, countryside properties, small independent hotels — as part of a wider Norway itinerary.
We’ll always tell you honestly when a stay is something we’re recommending rather than something we personally operate.
Choose a direction. We take it from there.
These are starting points, not packages. A good Norway day can combine several of them — or change completely when the weather gives us a better idea.
Historic Sogndalstrand
An 18th-century coastal village.
Preserved wooden buildings and a genuine sense of place.
Baroniet Rosendal
Norway’s only barony.
Built in 1665 by Ludvig Rosenkrantz, with a 300-year-old rose garden in Hardanger — sometimes called Scandinavia’s smallest castle.
Hotel Ullensvang
A fjord hotel since 1846.
Edvard Grieg composed here, with views across Hardangerfjord to the Folgefonna glacier — still family-run after nearly two centuries.
Tyssedal Hotel
Built for the hydropower age.
Opened in 1912 as Norway’s industrial era took hold in Hardanger — today it’s the closest hotel to Trolltunga.
The Bolder · Lysefjord
A modern counterpoint.
Compact timber lodges perched above Lysefjord, about an hour from Stavanger — proof that “unique” doesn’t only mean old.
Tell us what you enjoy.
We will put the day together. Sometimes the route you had never heard of becomes the one you talk about afterwards.
Different guests want different things from a stay.
Some want history and character. Others want quiet and space. Tell us what matters most to you.
Historic & characterful
Old buildings, real stories, a genuine sense of place.
Quiet & countryside
Space, nature, distance from the crowds.
Close to everything
Easy access to Stavanger and the main sights.
Not sure? Perfect. Tell us about your group and we will help you choose.
A good night's stay
is part of the trip, not a pause in it.
We think about where you sleep the same way we think about the day itself — with real character, not just convenience.
You don't need to research this yourself.
