FISHING IN NORWAY

Sea, fjord, river or lake —
your catch is out there.

Norway gives you an unusual range in one trip: cod, mackerel and pollock from a boat, salmon from a famous river, trout from a quiet mountain lake, or crab straight off a pier. The examples below are just that — examples — the water we choose depends on season, species and how far you want to travel.

More species than most visitors expect.

Norway’s coastline and rivers hold an unusual range in one trip: cod, mackerel and pollock from the sea, salmon from famous rivers, trout from quiet mountain lakes, and crab straight off a jetty. In Rogaland, that often means Stavanger, Jæren and Ryfylke — but the same range exists up and down the country.

We choose the water around the species, season, weather and your experience — not around a fixed package.

A FEW WAYS THE DAY COULD GO

Different ways to fish in Norway.

These are examples of what we can build into a private journey — not the only options. Fishing rights, seasons and permits are always confirmed for your dates.

Fishing in Norway

Crab off the pier

One of Norway’s simplest pleasures.
A hand line, some bait and an afternoon on a jetty or pier — great for families and first-timers, wherever you’re staying.

OR DON'T CHOOSE

Tell us what you want to fish.

We start with your dates, experience and where you are staying. Then we look for the strongest realistic option nearby before suggesting a longer journey.

WHICH ONE FITS YOU?

Easy first cast or a serious day out.

A family can spend a relaxed afternoon catching crab off a pier. An experienced angler may want a salmon beat or a full guided day on a famous river. We match the day to your experience and appetite.

Sea fishing

A relaxed fjord morning · rod provided · no experience needed.

Serious anglers

Longer days · further out · for guests who already fish seriously.

Crab & shore fishing

A hand line off the pier · great for kids · no licence needed.

Not sure? Perfect. Tell us about your group and we will help you choose.

Norway rewards patience.

Norway moves quickly from open coast to salmon rivers, fjords and quiet mountain lakes. That variety lets us build a fishing day wherever you are staying, or make it one part of a longer route.

WE HANDLE THE DETAILS

We sort out access, guide and practical details.

Fishing permits, local rules, equipment, guide and transport all depend on the water and the species. We coordinate the practical side and tell you early if an idea is not realistic.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few things people usually ask.

Yes. Stavanger has both sea fishing and freshwater options, and the wider Stavanger/Ryfylke region includes several well-known salmon rivers — one example of the range available across Norway. We start locally before suggesting a longer transfer.
Yes — it’s one of the simplest and most popular activities, especially for families. A hand line, some bait and a pier or jetty is all you need; no licence is required for recreational hand-line fishing.
Sea fishing with rod or hand line is generally free, subject to Norwegian rules and minimum sizes. Rivers and many lakes require local fishing permits, and salmon fishing can also involve additional requirements. We confirm what applies to the chosen water.
Absolutely. A relaxed sea-fishing, crab-fishing or trout day can be suitable for first-timers and families. Guided salmon fishing can also include instruction and equipment.
The season depends on the river and current regulations. Bjerkreim and Suldal are seasonal fisheries, so we check the exact opening dates, permits and river conditions for your travel dates.
Yes. It works particularly well as a morning or full day within a Stavanger, Jæren, Ryfylke, Sirdal or Southern Norway itinerary — or anywhere else in the country you’re travelling through.
