Taste what grows wild
in Southwest Norway.
Blueberries in the forests outside Stavanger, mushrooms under wet autumn trees, wild plants in Setesdal and berries in the hills of Ryfylke. This is a slower way into Norway — guided by what is growing, where you are travelling and what the season gives us.
We build private wild-food days around real places in Rogaland, Agder and Fjord Norway, with local knowledge and time to stop, taste and learn.
Local knowledge matters.
Wild food changes with altitude, rainfall and season. Around Sandnes and Ryfylke, late summer can mean blueberries and lingonberries; autumn brings mushrooms. In Setesdal and across Fjord Norway, wild plants and berries are part of a long food tradition.
We match the day to what is genuinely worth looking for when you are here.
Five ways to taste the landscape.
These are examples rather than fixed packages. The exact place depends on the season, conditions, your route and what is growing that week.
Berries · Sandnes & Ryfylke
Blueberries, lingonberries and the search for cloudberries.
Forest and higher ground around Southwest Norway, with Melshei and Ryfylke as natural starting points.
Mushrooms · Rogaland
Autumn on the forest floor.
Learn what to look for with someone who knows the local woods. Melshei is well known locally for both berry and mushroom picking.
Wild coast · Rogaland & Agder
Where forest meets the North Sea.
Build a day around the coast and wild landscape between southern Rogaland and western Agder, with edible plants as one part of a wider nature experience.
Wild plants · Setesdal
Mountain flavours and old food knowledge.
In Setesdal, wild plants and berries still find their way into local kitchens. Combine a guided nature day with a place where the ingredients become food.
Forage + local food · Fjord Norway
From forest to table.
Pair a gentle foraging walk with a farm, local kitchen or distinctive stay. In Ryfylke and Vestland, berries, mushrooms and herbs are still part of the regional food story.
Tell us when you're coming.
We will match the place and the day to the season. If the berries are poor, we do not pretend otherwise — we change the plan and look for something better.
A wild-food day can be gentle or adventurous.
Stay close to Stavanger for a few easy hours, make it part of a Ryfylke road trip, or turn it into a full day through forest, moor and local food.

Some of the best flavours
grow wild.
Norway’s right to roam gives broad access to uncultivated land and allows responsible picking of many wild berries and mushrooms. Local rules and protected species still matter.
The best experience is not about collecting the most. It is about understanding the landscape, the season and what belongs on the plate.
You don't need to know what's edible yet.
We plan around your dates and route, then match the habitat, local knowledge and level of walking. For mushrooms and unfamiliar plants, identification comes before tasting.
