GLACIERS · FROM FJORD NORWAY TO THE NORTH

Step onto Norway's blue ice.

Walk across blue ice above the Hardangerfjord, paddle towards a glacier lake, or cross by boat to Svartisen near the Arctic Circle — Norway’s second-largest glacier. We shape the experience around the season, the conditions and your group, from accessible first steps on the ice to longer private days with more time to explore.

GUIDED · LOCAL · CONDITION-LED

The glacier decides the day.

Glaciers change constantly. Routes, ice formations and access depend on the season and current conditions, which is exactly why the guide matters. We match you with an experienced local operator and build the day around your group, whether you want an accessible introduction to glacier travel or a more demanding private outing.
A FEW WAYS IT COULD LOOK

One Experience. Very different days.

These are examples, not fixed packages. Norway’s glaciers can be experienced from the ice, from the water and as part of a wider fjord journey.
Guided glacier hike on Folgefonna glacier in Hardanger, Norway

Blue ice · Folgefonna

Crampons on, rope ready. Guided blue-ice hikes on Folgefonna combine the ice itself with wide views over Hardanger and the surrounding mountains.
Nigardsbreen glacier in Sognefjord, Norway

Nigardsbreen · Jostedalen

One of Norway’s classic glacier landscapes. Build a guided glacier experience into a journey through Sognefjord and Jostedalen.
Glacier kayaking on Møsevatnet near Folgefonna, Norway

Glacier kayak

Approach the ice from the water. On Folgefonna, guided glacier-kayak experiences combine paddling on a glacier lake with a close-up view of the changing ice.
Hiking on Svartisen glacier, Nordland, Norway

Svartisen · Nordland

Norway’s second-largest glacier, just inside the Arctic Circle near Bodø. Its Engabreen arm reaches almost down to the fjord — one of the lowest-lying glacier tongues in mainland Europe — reached by a short boat crossing.
Summer skiing on Folgefonna glacier in Norway

Glacier + fjord

Make the glacier one part of the journey — combine it with Hardangerfjord, local food, a private fjord day, hiking or a distinctive place to stay.
OR DON'T CHOOSE YET

Tell us who is travelling.

We will match the glacier, guide and level to your route through Norway, the season and how adventurous you want the day to be.
HOW FAR ONTO THE ICE?

Your glacier day can be accessible or ambitious.

A first glacier experience does not have to be extreme. Equally, experienced and active guests can make it a longer, more technical day with the right guide and conditions.

First steps

An accessible guided introduction · glacier equipment · time to understand the ice.

Blue-ice day

Several hours on the glacier · changing formations · a proper day outside.

Private & ambitious

A longer private day · route tailored to the group · more scope for challenge where conditions allow.
Not sure? Tell us about your group, route and travel dates. We will help choose the right glacier experience.

Ice, fjord and mountains in the same day.

Few places show Norway’s contrasts as clearly as its glaciers. In Hardanger, the road from Jondal climbs from the fjord towards Folgefonna in less than 20 kilometres. Further north, a short boat ride across Holandsfjord reaches Svartisen, just inside the Arctic Circle — and elsewhere glaciers become part of journeys through Jostedalen, Sognefjord and other mountain regions.
WE HANDLE THE DETAILS

You don't need to choose the glacier first.

Tell us where your Norway journey is heading, when you are travelling and who is coming. We can identify a suitable glacier experience, local guide and level — and connect it naturally with the rest of the journey.
GOOD TO KNOW

A few things people usually ask.

No. The right experience depends on your group and the conditions. Guided options range from accessible introductions to longer and more demanding days on the ice.
It depends on the glacier and the type of experience. On Folgefonna, the main guided season runs from late May into autumn, while other glacier areas and activities have their own seasonal windows. We match the experience to your travel dates.
For guided glacier hikes, specialist equipment such as crampons, harness, helmet, rope and ice axe is normally provided by the glacier operator. We confirm exactly what is included before your day.
Often, yes, but minimum ages and suitable routes vary. Private guiding gives families more flexibility. Tell us the ages and experience in your group and we will suggest a realistic option.
The guide and operator make the safety decision. Routes and difficulty can be adjusted to current weather and glacier conditions, and occasionally an experience may need to change or be cancelled.
Yes. Private guiding is particularly useful for families, friends and groups who want their own pace, start time or level of challenge.
Absolutely. We can build it into a wider journey through Hardanger, Sognefjord or another part of Norway and combine it with fjord experiences, hiking, local food and distinctive places to stay.
